How the legal profession is changing, the ESG lawyer figure                                                                                                           by Emanuela Gallo and Francesca Sutti

Apparently, it is not true that the lawyer is that somewhat austere figure, sometimes ambitious, sometimes dusty, whom one turns to (only) to sort out problems and vent one's litigiousness. And, apparently, it is not even true that the legal profession is based (only) on codes, rules, volumes of judgments, and commentaries.

In fact, disproving common opinion comes this recent mutation of the "lawyer" genre: the ESG lawyer [...].

Power and Autonomy of Big Tech, Recent International Rulings

by Francesca Sutti

The American antitrust wants to break up Facebook, starting with WhatsApp. Meanwhile, another authority, this time European and for privacy, clarifies that Facebook and WhatsApp cannot transfer data between themselves as if they were a single entity just because they are part of the same group.
More precisely, the Irish Data Privacy Commissioner has fined WhatsApp Inc., controlled by Facebook, 225 million euros: the heaviest penalty ever imposed by this authority.
The decision adopted by the authority concerns the (alleged) failure by WhatsApp to fulfill its transparency obligations regarding the use and collection of its users' data, as well as the sharing of the same with Facebook [...]

Interventions that are now more necessary than ever, especially in Regions like those just mentioned, where the almost total lack of female presence in institutions has made it appropriate to adopt measures to encourage access to political office [...]
